BONS
More Dribble from the Drone

Several of you have reported that on warmer days your bees are visiting their protein feeders. If you haven’t already done so, you could do the same using powdered pollen substitute or pollen to contribute to a healthy start for your spring brood production. Today is NOT the day for it as it was 16 degrees when I got up. FRIGID!! No one in their right mind would be out flying.

Spring bee supply purchasing- Want to expand your bee yard? Do you need more woodenware and/or packaged bees.  BONS will be supplying both on a first-come, first-served basis. This a part of our effort to first, supply our new students with a good, less expensive start into beekeeping and second, provide members with the same discounted hive materials and bees.

Please check the website for ordering hive sets ( Click here ) , http://www.valleybees.online/ep_event.cfm?EventID=12588

Pick up of paid (credit card on the website ) woodenware orders will be on Saturday, March 13, 10AM-4PM and Sunday, March 14, 10AM-2PM at Tom Miller’s shop,   3690 Old Charles Town Road, Berryville, VA 22611. Checks will be accepted at Sundays pickup but NO CASH please.

Volunteers may be needed to help with woodenware day, March 13, before, during and after the day itself.  We will post our needs if and when they arise.

Our speaker this month is Paul Kelly. He will be speaking about making splits and nuc production. If you haven’t already noticed, we are going heavy on learning and teaching splits and nucs in the hopes that we can wean ourselves from Georgia packages.  Click here for the link to the Thursday Feb 11 Zoom presentation  https://us02web.zoom.us/j/89583633252?pwd=SThVMHhlcXBUQ2c0anV1TWFHV3pndz09

I don’t see any break in the cold weather any time soon but rest assured that warmer temperatures will come as will the inevitable swarming. Like a good scout, BE PREPARED!
